The inflammatory
process in the colon is known as irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS) or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The latter
includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The cause
of these disorders is not completely understood. Physicians
focus their efforts on treating just the symptoms by
prescribing antibiotics, steroids, salicylates, etc. If the
treatment is not working, the patient is offered a surgical
resection of the inflammatory colon in the case of IBD or
psychiatrist consultation in the case of IBS. Treatment of
only the symptoms never cures the disease and patients may
be under treatment for life.
Interestingly, IBD has been described not too long ago. The
first articles about IBD were published at the end of the 19th
century. Crohn described “his” colitis in 1932. Why has
colitis appeared only recently? Many scientists now think
that IBD is a human-made disorder. This idea has been
proven by Andrew Wakefield, MD, for so-called
“autistic colitis”, similar to colitis in Crohn’s disease.
He discovered a measles virus in the gut wall of these
patients. This virus was identical to the viral brand found
in vaccines these autistic children were vaccinated
with.
Another cause of IBD could be fungi that live in our
environment and gut. Different fungal toxins, called
mycotoxins, are also found in different foods,
particularly made from grains and corn (JAMA, 2002; Council
for Agricultural Science and Technology, 2003). Studies done
by Dr. Barclay have shown that if patients with Crohn’s
disease exclude baking and brewer yeasts in their diet,
colitis goes into stable remission (Scand J.
Gastroenterology, 1992).
The former World Health Organization
expert Dr. A.V.Costantini found a toxin of
fungus Aspergillum in the blood of patients with IBD.
So, colitis might be caused by
fungi growing as a result of the Standard American Diet
(SAD) with plenty of carbohydrates and sugars.
The fungi’s main action is
destruction of human’s immunity. That is why IBD patients
present with many general symptoms involving eyes, joints,
skin, liver and autoimmune reactions. It is known that
antibiotics cannot destroy fungi. Antibiotics are mycotoxins
themselves. David Holland, in his bestseller “The Fungus
Link” (2003), writes that everyone who has been treated with
antibiotics even once and those who often eat bread, cereal
and sugar are prone to be immunodeficient with fungi
multiplying in the gut.
The major gut fungal habitant in people is Candida.
In low immunity, Candida has a perfect opportunity
for overgrowth on SAD. As it was written in “Johns
Hopkins Clinical Mycology” manual (1944), the low carb
diet may not only help many chronic diseases but cure them.
Unfortunately, physicians rely more on antibiotics and
steroids as treatment tools.
Another
IBD feature is a deficit of essential
the fatty acids EPA and DHA (omega-3) in the blood.
The cause of it again is SAD – the American diet. Heavy
metals, especially mercury that is found in many foods,
medications and our environment are also playing a damaging
role on the gut and nervous system.
All named causes are
lowering the patient’s resistance and with time anything
could become a trigger of inflammation in the gut.
Therefore, the great hope for patients with IBD is treatment
and medication (GM-CSF) that does not lower the immune
response but raises it.
From my point of view,
treatment of IBD should include not
only drugs, but also antifungal, herbal and enzyme therapy
and a special diet with allergic food avoidance. Friendly
gut flora should be restored with numerous microbial
habitants including E.coli.
Should a person with IBD be sick his or her whole life? No.
We offer special treatment protocol for patients with
colitis with multifactor approach to gut wall and immunity
restoration.

How
we can help:
To
treat colitis, we offer a comprehensive dietary and
supplementation design to get to the very root of
your immune responses.

Comprehensive stool analysis helps to evaluate
the patient's gut environment and digestion
pattern. Food allergy assessment is available with the addition
of 96 combined or vegetarian foods.
-
We offer Candida testing (IgE, IgA, IgM, IgG
antibodies) with special treatment
protocol
-
Elimination and rotation diet with
special vitamins, minerals (selenium, magnesium,
zinc, etc.) and fatty acids at special dose design supplementation.
-
At the same time, we offer metabolism and medication
balancing with circadian cycle adjustment.
-
Special treatment for Clostridia, Candida or
mucoplasma as causative pathogens is offered
-
Heavy Metal tests (urine, feces) with further
chelation if needed.
